If You Are Scheduled for Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
• Do NOT eat or drink anything for 6 hours before your procedure, including NO water or gum
• If you take any medications, please notify the office as soon as possible so we can go over instructions regarding medications.
• Have a driver with you before and after the surgery. Your driver may leave once the procedure begins. Please inform your ride they need to leave their name and number with the front desk. Ask them to please keep their phone on them at all times.
• Wear a short sleeve shirt so our team can easily place the IV for your procedure.
• The use of alcohol or recreational drugs, including marijuana can have an adverse effect on the anesthesia medications that we use. Please discontinue the use of such for at least 48 hours before your procedure.
• If you have an illness such as a cough, cold, fever, sore throat, or upset stomach, please call the office to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
• No smoking/vaping for at least 12 hours before the surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible before the procedure.
• Plan to rest for the remainder of the day. Do not drive for 24 hours after the procedure. Do not do anything that involves important decision making.
• Please remove anything from the neck up including any jewelry, hair pins, removable appliances in your mouth, etc.
• You may preform your normal hygiene routine before the surgery, such as brushing your teeth or flossing.
If you have asthma, please make a consultation first. If you have already had a consultation, please remember to bring your inhaler with you to your surgery.

If you are scheduled to have Nitrous Oxide Analgesia (laughing gas)
• Do not eat or drink anything for 3 hours before (including NO water)
• NOTE: Nitrous Oxide Analgesia is administered through your nose, if you have a cold or any illness that prevents you from breathing in or out of your nose properly, please call our office
• Nitrous is reversible. You will be able to drive yourself to and from your appointment

• NOTE: Nitrous Oxide Analgesia is administered through your nose, if you have a cold or any illness that prevents you from breathing in or out of your nose properly, please call our office
